Risks and Chances

So I was thinking about this.

Every risk/chance I took this year and last year, something good happened! So clearly, next year I have to take more risks=) Will be interesting....

Seriously, I remember last year. I was like, 'Maybe I should spend 30mins doing this VTAC application for 2009 to see if I can get into law and it paid off=) Never thought it would...but you never know!
Other chances/risks? Hmmm...first grammar lecture for French this year and that is all I am going to say;) lol

Anyways, I went to the Magistrates and Supreme Court recently because that's all I do these days=S As if, I was bored and I'm still trying to work out what to do with my life and what better thing to do then watch the criminal system;) That sounded so nerdy...I was seeing if our criminal system lived up to the Boston Legal antics in the Court room. Too bad we don't have the 'I OBJECT'...'Sustained'...etc.

Anyhoo, Magistrates court was boring as ever. They were simple summary offences and everyone was applying for an adjournement and it was terribly boring. So, if I ever become a criminal lawyer, I really do not want to work at the Magistrates Court all day. All you virtually do is plead how nice a person actually is.

So I ditched the Magistrates court and headed to the Supreme Court. I was heading to Court Room 4 to watch the sentencing of some guy but I missed it. It's in the news, cherry picker who killed this other dude and got 6 1/2 years in jail.

Instead, I caught the mention hearing for the two guys who 'allegedly' killed another guy "McEvoy' at QBH in a brawl. That was slightly more interesting. Although, when the prosecution/defence reads out facts, it is terribly boring.

"At 3.31.05, the D raised his right fist, as shown on the CCTV footage""At 3.31.07, the D made contact with the other person's face etc. etc." "This person is yellow in the CCTV footage" "This person is purple, entering the venue."

So, that was abit boring. I liked how Justice Coughlan reacted in terms of the DPP argument. He said something along the lines of 'You should not make these two an example for a kindergarten fight where their actions were merely incidental to McEvoy death" Something about "populism" too? Or words to that effect.

Well, it will be interesting to see what happens in the end! They'll probably get a suspended sentence since they weren't directly involved but that guy who punched him was. Anyways, wasn't clear with the facts.
Maybe I should be a prosecutor or defence lawyer. Well, I'll figure it out after I do Crim next year=) Looking forward to finally working out what I should specialise in/do electives wise.

Well, I'm tired so I'm off!
Have an awesome Xmas! I have 8 more days to do something I'll regret haha...!
Until next time (if you have actually been bothered to read the whole thing),

Reflections

So lying on my bed about to go to bed.....

2009 is nearly over...(it's still a month and a bit away but time flies)! What can I say? It has been 'interesting' to say the least...

On a side note, I cannot believe we graduated over 2 years ago and it's interesting how different we all are now than back then! I still find it funny that some people, not to mention any names, don't want to move away from the high school change but anyways....=P Embrace change...it's good for you;) I had a completely different position last year (I dislike change, why do things have change? blah blah blah) Glad that's over and done with=D

Back on topic, 2009 started 'differently' to say the least again...12am 1st January 2009: A basketball, "The Sydney fireworks are better than Melbourne, let's flick to them" and an argument not long after, which lasted hmm 3 mins+ probably more or less...! I remember everything which is useful and annoying at the same time...!

I've lost some, I've gained some and I've learnt lots along the way=D Some things have been resolved...some things just hang which will probably not be resolved...ever....

2009 has been an interesting year. If I had to list everything that happened it would be very long.

Things include:
  • Getting into law school (I wonder where I learnt all my arguing skills from; probably last year haha...=P)
  • "Studying law.... makin' a responsible choice for my future...on friday night...bein' a lawyer had better be awesome....." (Thanks Marshall HIMYM haha)
  • Law camp? (what happened again?)
  • ILR and RAW? "RAW hoo, what is it good for absolutely nothing?"=P ILR: A quote from our professor Moira Patterson "I used to walk out or exams wanting to slit my wrists *giggle* but usually got the highest marks in my year anyways..." Or something along those lines!
  • Other 'stuff' besides law of course lol, which I could list but cannot be bothered, and on and on and on it goes....
Should I be writing this a little later...'meh', I'm bored!
What were my resolutions for 2009...I don't know? But I do remember I broke one 30mins into the New Year....not good at all!=P It hasn't all been smooth sailing, but most of it has;) Much better than last year, for obvious reasons, I'll say=)

Goodnight and don't forget to end 2009 on a positive {you have all of 1 month and a bit to go;)}
Nick

P.S: So many things on my 'to do' list haha! Will have to get round to them after my last exam on Wednesday (my last ever French exam too=D)

Planning;)

So...on a completely random note, saw the Prato and Malaysia program for 2010 and it looks awesome. (I'm meant to be doing RAW but got distracted by Monsters v Aliens and this thing)

Will probably head off on exchange in 2011 (since I'm only eligible then), which will be sweet, if all goes to plan;)...and things usually don't go to plan, which makes it all the more fun haha! Only need 55% in law subjects so that shouldn't be too bad.
Anyways, if that does end up happening, will only 5 months of uni for the entire year=D Then will probably head on some exchange somewhere else after doing all those uni subjects.

Exciting!

On another note, apparently I only need to do 6 more units to finish my Arts degree;) and will end up walking out with a major in international and a minor in french. Hmmm, what would I do with that? So I can do them all next year, which I probably won't. Need to keep some of my saneness instead of doing ALL law units haha!

And I still have no idea what I want to do after uni haha...(media law; intellectual property...you breached copyright loser...; crim law; corporate law?) still have stacks of time to work it out though! Haha, and this just reminded me of Gary saying 'Privacy laws....' in Year 9ish=P

Been A While;)

Hey!

It has been AGES since I have updated this...but I assume I have already said that in previous posts. 'Meh'=P

All you need to know is life is going pretty sweet at the moment and no complaints...nor regrets;)
Yet, there still remains lots of things to do....dammit, need a 'to do' list haha=P

Anyways, hope all is good with everyone else and until next time...if I actually write something substantial or 'partly significant' lol;)
I should stop smiley winking hey...;)
haha

Can't wait till exams are all over in about a month! Then LONG LONG break...and time to go searching for a job...the money I have leftover from Nando's money is getting smaller, smaller and smaller. Probably from the gym but anyways. Do I actually buy anything haha?

Question One

So I had my contract law exam today and all in all it was pretty swell!
Not sure how I went but 'meh' it is finally done!=D

I for one found the first question worth 35marks quite entertaining. Davison, you sly bastard...it was a typical Davison question=P

'The chief examiner will award you 1 BONUS mark if you put your ID number and stream number on the front of your script booklet'...words to that effect.
And the question was discuss the contractual implications. Was there a contract ya ya ya!

I found that terribly interesting as I didn't even think about that before. Anyhoo, I managed to throw in a 2minute estoppel argument at the end 'Estopp, you should give me that mark otherwise I might suffer an emotional detriment=P (Cth v Verwayen)'

The other question was 'The chief examiner now decides to revoke his offer'. Discuss your (legal) opinion.
I would have wrote "yeah, f*** you"=P but nooo you need a legal opinon=P

All in all, it was alright!

Have International Studies tomorrow! 'Bleugh' so absolutely cramming for that! But then I'm left with French so pas de stress!

Anyways, hope all's well! Drinks after it's all over=) Catchsky

Fresh consideration?

I needed a random name=P

Happy?
Anyhoo, so someone did something tonight (well it was last night, since I'm posting this now) which I was not really expecting but it made me happy=)=) It was not the same person as my previous blog but 'meh'. Anyways, it is not that hard to work out if you actually knew what I was doing that day....

And haha, here is another ambigious blog much like everything in law! I guess it is just because exams are on;) or that is just my excuse!
After they're all over, I am sure these blogs will get 'less ambigious' or actions to that effect=P
Or, I will actually share what is going on...hehe=P

Exams?
Hopefully, I passed ILR (Intro to Legal Reasoning) and do not have to do it again otherwise it will kill me. I just wrote 'bleugh' and scattered everything. Could not think at all! And I don't think I was the only one in this boat! Time is the enemy...!

And had french culture today. YES! i threw in my line on the 'dream machine' which is the 'Au bon marche' and 'prostitution'=P

I have contracts on Thursday (worth 90% but I'll get there) and Contemporary Worlds on Friday ('bleugh'..memorising a history essay)
Then French et tout sera fini=)

Other stuff
And yeah, old msn conversations are absolutely hilarious...

Which reminds me, I am still extremely interested in why someone starting with 'P', ending with 'P' with an 'I' in the middle, decided to stop talking to me in Year 12 and still has not made contact...I have never been able to work it out and the day I find out, I will laugh=P If there even is a reason...it's hilarious.

And thinking about heading to Noumea over the summer for a summer semester there. That is if I decide to continue in French and major in it and can fork out $4000. If not, there's always next year;)

So with that, Catchysky later! Hope everyone is keeping nice and well!

Random

You make me happy.....;)

And that is all I'm going to say and mention in this blog...;) lol

Who, what and why? hehe

Until next time!
